Obituary: Madia Maria Fusco, 86, of Waltham

Madia was an active member of the Waltham community, including delivering for Meals-on-Wheels and participating in a bowling league.

WALTHAM, MA – Madia Maria (Semeraro) Fusco, loving wife, sister, sister in-law, and beloved aunt, died after a short illness on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. She was 86 years old.

Madia was born in Watertown, MA on September 3, 1930, the firstborn child of John and Maddalena Semeraro. After attending School, she worked as a bookkeeper.

In 1965, she married the love of her life, Romolo β€œTony” Fusco (deceased), with whom she was blessed to share 37 years of marriage. Madia and Tony built a wonderful life in Waltham. Madia spent the rest of her life in that home being a devoted wife to her husband and a doting aunt to her nephews and nieces. Over the years Madia had the opportunity to visit her extended family in Italy and enjoyed travelling.

Madia was an active member of the Waltham community. She enjoyed delivering for Meals-on-Wheels, lively teammate in her bowling league, vibrant member of the Waltham Senior Center, and an active member of her church. Passionate about her outings to local casinos, she was a lover of all games, which included a good game of BINGO. She will be greatly missed.

Madia is survived by her brother, Joseph Semeraro and his wife Sheila (deceased) of Center Barnstead, NH, and her sister in-law Tecla Caira of Watertown, MA. She is further survived by her nephews Joseph Semeraro Jr. and his wife Sheila, Thomas Semeraro and his wife Debra, John Semeraro and his wife Tammy, Paul Semeraro and his wife Jennifer, Robert Semeraro and his wife Sara, Tony Caira and his wife Anne, David Caira and his wife Aireen, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Also countless friends and neighbors whom she called family and loved dearly.

Services in Celebration of Madia's Life will be held in the "Mary Catherine Chapel" of the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum, Waltham, Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours will be on Thursday in the Mary Catherine Chapel from 3-8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.

Flowers are appreciated or expressions of sympathy may be made in Madia's memory to the Waltham Senior Citizens of Meals on Wheels.
