74-Year-Old Man Hit By Car In Waltham

WALTHAM, MA β€” A 74-year-old man is recovering in the hospital after he was hit by a car on Main Street (Route 20) near Rich Street, prompting heavy traffic in both directions Monday morning.

The man was crossing Main Street Monday morning around 6:30 a.m. near Rich Street when the driver of a car heading east down Main Street hit him, according to police. The driver of the car, a 72-year-old Waltham man, was not injured and stayed and cooperated with police. The pedestrian was rushed to a hospital, where he is awake and alert and in stable condition, according to police.

Police said they are still investigating. It's not yet clear if anyone has been charged or what caused the crash.

Main Street was closed in both directions from Hammond Street to Rich Street early, as police investigated, according to reports.
