Sharon Town Clerk Retires After 30 Years Serving Community

SHARON, MA β€” Retiring Sharon Town Clerk Marlene Chused was greeted with a car parade salute as she left town hall Tuesday night after 30 years serving the town.

Ann Marie Ford posted a tribute to Chused saying: "Marlene has been very active in the town that she loves."

Ford said Chused was heralded by local police and firefighters, which drove by and presented her with gifts, balloons, flowers and well-wishes.

Town clerk the past 21 years, Chused was the assistant town clerk the previous seven years. She also worked for the selectman's office in town for two years.

"Marlene will surely be missed," Ford said. "I always have felt so uplifted by her welcoming greetings and friendly conversations when we see each other. I saw the love she has for this town when we both worked on committee to plan the 250th anniversary celebration for the town.

"When I asked what she loved about Sharon, this was her reply: 'The feeling of security,

the beauty of the surroundings and people.'"
