Shopping with a Cause
Local author is invited to participate in a festival supporting domestic violence assistance.
Friends, fans, shoppers, readers:
I am delighted and proud to have been invited to participate in a merry shopping event as a local author. A cause which is special and important to me will be supported through this festivity. If you have read my memoir, "Justice for the Lemon Trees," or my book of poetry, "Person Numbers: Poems from Prison," you know that I am a survivor of domestic violence. One of the most vital goals in writing and sharing my personal life with you is so that people who have been abused, bullied, mistreated, isolated, or impoverished will see in my words that they are not alone. Friends and advocates of people escaping from or struggling with these issues also need the validation that the pain is real, and together we are stronger.
This event, which sounds like it's going to be a blast for EVERYONE, is partnering with the community to assist survivors of domestic violence. So mark your calendar, come hang out with me, and experience a jolly shopping day for a good cause.
