WALTHAM, MA β€” After 25 years in Waltham, Sichuan's Garden suddenly closed and had plans to sell its restaurant equipment - everything from plates to the buffet bar and booths - at auction.

"The Management and Staff of Sichuan's Garden would like to take this opportunity to Thank You for the 25 years of your support," reads a sign posted to the door of the Waverly Oaks Road restaurant on January 19.

There is no announcement on the restaurant website, and no one picked up the phone to the restaurant Tuesday afternoon, though the restaurant was only open Wednesday through Saturday.

An advertisement announced an auction for the restaurant equipment auction was set for January 27, but shortly after it was posted in a print newspaper, the auctioneers announced it was cancelled online.

The last Google reviews for the restaurant appear to have been posted online Friday, Jan. 17.

Waltham's commission said they were aware that the restaurant was closing.

This comes after another Chinese restaurant, Lily's Chinese Kitchen in Waltham also abruptly up and closed shop. Waltham's licensing commission said in the case of Lily's the commission had no violations against them, but that restaurant gave no warning before or - even after- it closed.
