Waltham a 2016 Bicycle Friendly Community 'Honorable Mention'

WALTHAM, MA – This may not be news to Waltham's cycling community, but the city is a haven for bicycle enthusiasts.

So much so that it's begun to achieve national recognition.

Waltham was recently named an "Honorable Mention" – a first for the Watch City – on the list of Bicycle Friendly Community Awards for the fall. It joins Arlington and Falmouth as the three Massachusetts communities to make the cut.

Communities were ranked by "Gold," "Silver," "Bronze" and "Honorable Mention." Arlington and Falmouth were both rated "Bronze."

Here's a look at the most bicycle-friendly places in the country, according to "Gold" status:

• Corvallis, OR
• Durango, CO
• Missoula, MT
• San Francisco, CA
• Seattle, WA
