WALTHAM, MA — You may have put the pieces together if you've been watching the past few months: The red Camaro with the license plate that reads "Flavortown" outside the diner in May, the Instagram post, the quiet closure of the In A Pickle for a bit. It all pointed to this:

In A Pickle is going to be featured on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives."

The Food Newtwork's Emmy Award nominated food reality TV show started in 2006, as a one off hosted by Fieri. It was so popular in 2007 it turned into a series. Each episode Fieri takes a road trip to find the best small or independent eateries to highlight, he learns how a menu item that works with the episode's theme is made in and then works with the kitchen staff on it, and ends up sampling it.

Fieri and a team filmed with the folks at the restaurant for three days and had special guest Sammy Hagar aka "The Red Rocker," known for his role in the bands Montrose and as lead singer for Van Halen, hang out for a guest appearance.

"They're going to feature our Toro Loco Burger, and the Pumpkin Bread French Toast! This was all because of our amazing customers and staff supporting us though the years," the post read.

Look for the episode to air at 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29.

How'd the diner get its name? When now owner Tim Burke left his gig managing a restaurant to start his own business, he realized that he had only enough money to survive eight months without an income. After nine months of searching and no affordable space to buy he sat down on his couch head in hand to think about his next steps. "I’m really In A Pickle," he said to himself. The moment was seared into memory. Not long afterward, he found a spot across from the common, bought that and turned it into "In a Pickle." The business grew and moved to its current location at the corner of Pine and Moody in 2013.
