Waltham Ducklings Rescued From Storm Drain [Video]

Waltham Animal Control said they were able to rescue the ducklings and reunite them with mother duck after they fell down a storm drain.

WALTHAM, MA β€” Make way for Waltham Ducklings. This week some little feathered ones found their way into a storm drain and couldn't quite get out. That's when a number of people stepped up to help the wee waddlers out.

But, tis the season for ducklings stuck in storm drains, said the Waltham Animal Control Officer in a social media post. Mother ducks can walk over sewer grates no problem and sometimes don't realize that their babies can fall through until it's too late. One tip she said, if you happen upon a mama duck circling near a grate? Don't scare off the mama duck.

"Try to collect them all together in a container before giving them back to her. Sometimes if she only gets a few and there's too much commotion, she may leave without the rest!"
