Waltham Resident to Sing National Anthem at Patriots Game: Report

Nyah Macklin also serenaded the crowd at Brandeis' commencement ceremony last year.

WALTHAM, MA – A 22-year-old Waltham resident and aide to one of Massachusetts' newest state representatives will be the voice behind the national anthem at this Saturday's playoff game between the Patriots and Texans, the State House News Service reports.

Nyah Macklin is no stranger to the Star Spangled Banner, having sung it at Brandeis' commencement ceremony last May. In fact, it was that performance that caught the eye of a Patriots season ticket holder, who brought her to the attention of the front office, according to State House News Service.

Macklin is a legislative aide to Rep. Brian Murray, a Democrat from Milford who was elected to represent the 10th Worcester District in November. She previously worked for Quincy Rep. Tackey Chan and served as student government president at Brandeis, according to the State House News Service report.
