We've had three cancellations and no early dismissals or two-hour delays. In terms of making decisions there are a number of factors I consider: 1) timing; 2)intensity of storm; 3) anticipated response time for safe passage through city; and 4) access to school lots. During a storm, I will hold multiple calls with city officials, WPD and our facilities department. The City subscribes to two detailed weather forecast services that provide us with good data which we will discuss on the calls, among other issues. I always try to make the call the night before when I can. However, often times the timing and intensity of the storm are unclear or conflicting making it impossible to make a call that far out.

Has the city declared a snow emergency or parking ban?

Yep. A Snow Emergency Parking Ban begins Mon, March 12 at 11 p.m..

Generally, the Public Works Director Michael Chiasson will call a "snow emergency" when excessive amounts of snow are predicted. All vehicles are required to be removed from all roadways to allow for a better clearing job. All vehicles left on the road are subject to tow.

What about trash and recycling?

Trash pick up and recycling will be delayed a day, the city announced. There will be no trash/recycling pick up on Tuesday, March 12.

Questions regarding snow plow requests should be referred to (781) 314-3855 and check out the town website for more info on all things snow storm related.

And the MBTA?

The MBTA Commuter Rail will operate on an β€œExtremely Reduced Schedule” on all lines. Red, Orange, Blue, and Green Lines will operate with reduced frequency, similar to a Saturday.
