Weymouth Teen Charged With Stomping Family Chihuahua

Police said that Shykeim Basden, 19, killed the family dog "Coco" and dropped its body near Whitman's Pond.

WEYMOUTH, MA β€” A Weymouth teen was charged with killing a domestic animal after Weymouth police said he stomped to death the family Chihuahua and dropped its body near Whitman's Pond on Monday.

Shykeim Basden, 19, was also charged with threatening to commit a crime and vandalism to property.

Police said that Basden's mother told them she saw her son stomp on "Coco" numerous times and left her Lake Street home with the dog. Basden's mother said her son planned to throw the dog in Whitman's Pond.

Police found the dog along the shoreline.

Police said Basden was located around 7:30 Monday night in the parking lot of Weston Park where he was taken into custody. He was held overnight and scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday.
