2 Arrested After Car Stolen, Used in Hit and Run

This morning at 4:25, the responded to the report of a stolen 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt from a residence on Adams Street.

At approximately 7:05 a.m., the police received a call reporting a hit and run crash on Otis Street near the involving this motor vehicle. The witness reported the vehicle left the scene traveling east on Route 9 onto Route 135, toward Westborough center.

Sgt. Peter Goodney observed the vehicle traveling south on Maynard Street. He was able to block the vehicle at 45 Maynard St. and was able to place both occupants in custody.

The operator of the vehicle was identified as Damian R. Hughes, 19, of 19 Nash St., Westborough. The passenger was identified as Zachary Backman, 18, of 31 Upton Rd., Westborough.

Hughes is being charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, operating a motor vehicle without a license and using a motor vehicle without authority. Backman is charged with using a motor vehicle without authority.
