Awesome Kids Vacation Week Idea: Chinese Cooking Classes

"My goal is to help kids to develop a healthy diet and also gain a necessary skill set that will benefit for rest of their lives."

WESTBOROUGH, MA—You're always looking for something fun for the kids to do on their school break, which most are on this coming week.

Here's an idea: let them learn to cook. In particular, let them learn to cook Chinese food.

Westboro Kitchen is offering a week of "Kids Cooking: Basic Chinese Cooking Classes," which takes place owner Jean Tse's home. Tse is offering four three-hour classes teaching children to learn some of the basics of Chinese cooking such as making dumplings, fried rice and noodles. Tse, is a self-described graphic designer, foodie, home cook and a mom. Working for corporate for 18 years, she decided she wanted to "run my own life." Tse hosts private dinner catering for families, and private parties, and recently started teaching cooking classes.

"My goal is to help kids to develop a healthy diet and also gain a necessary skill set that will benefit for rest of their lives," Tse told Patch. "I planned the kids' cooking classes all based on what kids are familiar with and like, so hope this will encourage school-aged kids to learn how to cook by themselves."
