Donald Spooner, Auto Racer and Electrical Engineer, Dies at 79

Spooner died unexpectedly at home. A memorial celebration is being planned for September.

WESTBOROUGH, MA—Donald J. Spooner, 79, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 after being stricken ill earlier in the day. He was the husband of Kim (Curran) Spooner to whom he was married for thirty years. He was born in Quincy, the son of the late Charles and Helen (Hanson) Spooner and lived in Westborough for the past thirty-two years.

Mr. Spooner worked as an electrical engineer for the Raytheon Corp. for many years before his retirement in 2006. In his younger years Mr. Spooner was an active auto racer and throughout his life was active with his short wave radio.

Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Robin Spooner and her husband, Minh Le, of MD, Dawn Cosimini and her husband, John, of Stow and one grandson, Michael.
