It's Time To Raise Funds For Westborough HS's Athletic Complex

Some money has been allocated for the project, but concerned supporters are reaching out in a plea for donations.

WESTBOROUGH, MA—At Westborough's October 2017 town meeting, voters approved a renovation project for the athletic complex at Westborough High School.

Now it's time to fund that project, and those concerned with the project are reaching out to ask the community for support in a major fundraising effort.

The town has committed to some capital for the project, but a portion needs to be funded.

  • replacing the existing stadium field with alternative fill turf
  • ADA compliant closed style bleacher seating

The fundraising commitment for this project is $500,000 to be raised through private and corporate donors. Reaching this goal by May 2018 is necessary to complete the project by fall 2018 and to prevent disruption to school athletics and community track and field use, according to the announcement.

The 2016-2017 athletic accomplishments at the high school were impressive with 15 teams into post-season play, 2 Divisional titles, and 3 State Championship appearances. Westborough continues to have a very high athletic participation rate for a town our size. There are:

  • 60 teams at the high school and 9 teams at Gibbons Middle School
  • 2,000 high school roster spots for players
  • ·over 500 families with at least one athlete in our high school programs
  • the class of 2017 had a half dozen students going on to play collegiate athletics
