Mass. Gas Up 8 Cents, But 6 Cents Lower Than National Average
A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 43 cents lower.

While gas prices have skyrocketed in Massachusetts, the state still falls six cents below the national average.
AAA’s April 30 survey of prices in Massachusetts finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.75 per gallon. The national average for regular unleaded of $2.81. A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 43 cents lower at $2.32, according to AAA.
“Crude oil prices topped 68 dollars a barrel today, rising 2.9 percent and hitting a 3-year high,” said Mary Maguire, director of Public and Legislative Affairs, in a statement. “That spike in crude oil, combined with increased demand as the summer travel season approaches, is sharply pushing prices at the pump.”

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 40 cents, from a low of $2.59 to a high of $2.99.
