Downed Tree Knocks Power To Over 2,500 Westborough Homes

Storms knocked power to several towns in Worcester County but Westborough seemed to be one of the hardest hit.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Over 2,500 Westborough residents were in the dark on Wednesday afternoon. Severe storms ripped through the area, causing outages across the Commonwealth.

Storms have knocked power to several towns in Worcester County but Westborough seemed to be one of the hardest hit. Thirty percent of National Grid customers were affected by the outage as of 4 p.m., according to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency.

The outage was caused by a tree down near Bowman Lane/Bowman Street. Outages in Worcester County are expected to be restored by 8:30 p.m.

The severe thunderstorm watch was in effect until 10 p.m. The flash flood watch was until 11 p.m.
