Recycling Started at Westborough Fields

Bins have been added to every site.

Cans, plastic bottles and other recyclables brought to Westborough's recreation fields have a new home.

Recycling bins have been placed at each field, resident Earl Storey and Recreation Director Frank DeSiata told selectmen Tuesday night.

"Some have two. Some have one. They're 96-gallon containers," Storey said.

E.L. Harvey and Sons "gave us a great deal on the containers," DeSiata said.

Storey said the program was discussed with the Westborough sports community in February.

"Most of the children are used to that," he said.

"They're used to it in school. Hopefully, it will work out good."

The bins will accept "just about everything," Storey said.

"The DPW picks up at the fields Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I'm hoping it will take away two pickups," he said.
