Regenerative Medicine Company Moves Headquarters To Westborough

The company is moving its headquarters from Marlborough to Westborough, and will add up to 300 jobs.

WESTBOROUGH, MA—A company specializing in regenerative medicine and cell therapy is moving its headquarters from Marlborough to Westborough.

The Astellas Institute for Regenerative Medicine is moving to Westborough Technology Park, reports the Worcester Business Journal. The company plans is an $80-million investment to convert an office building at the new location into a pharmaceutical research and development facility, said the Westborough Economic Development Committee to the WBJ.

According to the company's website, Astellas Institute for Regenerative Medicine (AIRM) was established in May 2016 following Astellas’ acquisition of Ocata Therapeutics. It is supported by a research team in Tsukuba, Japan. The company is a subsidiary of Astellas and serves as the company’s global hub for regenerative medicine and cell therapy research in ophthalmology and other therapeutic areas that have few or no available treatment options.
