Scholarship From Westborough Community Land Trust

The Westborough Community Land Trust is awarding two $1,000 college scholarships to Earth Day essay contest winners.

WESTBOROUGH, MA - Graduating seniors are invited to submit Earth Day essays for a chance to win a scholarship from the Westborough Community Land Trust.

The Westborough Land Trust will be awarding $1,000 college scholarships to two winners of the Earth Day sssay contest.

The contest is open to all graduating seniors at Westborough High School or residents of Westborough who will be graduating from a different high school.

All essays must be received by April 1. Westborough High School seniors may submit their essays to guidance office by the due date. Residents attending other schools must mail their essays to WCLT, P.O. Box 838, Westborough, MA 01581.

All applications must include the student’s name, address, birth date, e-mail, phone, and permission to print their essays on our WCLT website, newsletter, and in local newspapers and online media.

Essays should be between 500 and 750 words typed double-space in Times Roman 12 point font. The student’s birth date (not name) should be at the top of each page.

The essay prompts are as follows via the Westborough Community Land Trust.

1. An environmental issue in Westborough: Describe an environmental issue that affects a natural resource in Westborough. Propose a solution that would address this issue and/or describe activities in which you have been involved that have worked towards solving this particular problem.

2. An experience or place in Westborough: Describe an experience or place in Westborough that has brought you close to nature or has inspired you to see the world from an environmentally conscious perspective. Explain why and note anything you have done or plan to do as a result.

3. Protection of Westborough’s natural heritage and special places: Describe a place in Westborough that you think is especially important to protect, and explain why. Propose ways to protect or sustain this place or others that are part of Westborough’s natural heritage, and describe how you have helped or can help.
