Snow Day: How MA Celebrates The First Snow Of The Season

The first snow of the season was a big one and Bay Staters wasted no time building snowmen and starting snowball fights.

December made quite an entrance, with heaps of snow falling throughout Monday that are expected to linger throughout Tuesday. Students and teachers across the state rejoiced on Monday after getting the call that classes were canceled. More than 100 closings and delays were announced and there could be more to come as another 4-8 inches are in the forecast for much of Massachusetts by the morning.

For kids in communities across the state, Monday's snow day was like the icing on the cake to their already long weekend from the holiday. They wasted no time in transforming their front yards into a stage for their snowmen or battling it out with siblings in a snowball fight.

We asked parents to send us photos of their little ones reacting to the first snowfall and we received some adorable results. Check it out:
