Textile Recycle A Success: Thanks From Westborough Girl Scouts
Over the two and half years they collected and recycled more than 69,678 pounds of materials during 31 collections.
WESTBOROUGH, MA—Westborough Girl Scout troop 30633 kicked off a textile recycling campaign in November of 2014, and he troop held its last one in June of 2018.
Two Westborough Girl Scout troops, led by Julie Baldwin and Pam Smith, continue them this fall.
Troop 30633, led by Brenda Lord and Judy Wilchynski, had 21 members during the time of their collections. Over the two and half years they collected and recycled more than 69,678 pounds of materials during 31 collections. The troop averaged a ton of materials each collection.

"Not only did the collection help provide money earning for the troop but directed all those materials away from the landfill and garbage," said Wilchynski. "That is an average of 2,248 pounds of materials each collection. The troop extends their deepest thanks to the community, Boston Interiors and The Willows who participated in the collections over the years. Girls met folks from many towns who participated in the collections."
