Westborough Construction: Road Resurfacing To Last Through April

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Road closures are coming to I-90 in Westborough and Southborough this month through April.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced the closures on Tuesday as part of a construction and resurfacing project on local roads and on I-90 eastbound and westbound in Southborough and Westborough.

The project will be in place to facilitate work on MassDOT’s Acceler8 Bridge Replacement Project. Details on local roads and I-90 are below:

Local Roads

• Construction operations will be conducted on local roadways weekly, from Monday through Friday, during daytime hours from 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Additional work hours may be occasionally needed on the local roads.
• Lane closures on local roads will be in place with alternating one-way traffic through work zones to facilitate the following work:
  • Drilling micropiles and constructing abutments will be conducted on Cordaville Road.
  • Abutment repairs will be conducted on Woodland Road and on Parkerville Road.
  • Abutment repairs and the relocation of utility cables into the newly constructed ductbank will occur on Flanders Road.

Interstate 90 Eastbound and Westbound

• Construction and paving operations will be conducted on I-90 eastbound, between exit 106 (old exit 11A) and exit 111 (old exit 12), and on I-90 westbound, between exit 111 (old exit 12) and exit 106 (old exit 11A), weekly, from Sunday through Friday, during overnight hours from 7:00 p.m. each night to 5:00 a.m. the following morning.
• Lane closures will be in place during the scheduled work which includes median barrier replacement operations, roadway surface milling, and paving operations.
• Crews will also be working along the I-90 shoulders to conduct utility work and to install erosion control devices and temporary lighting.

MassDOT is replacing bridges on I-90 eastbound and westbound over Flanders Road in Westborough and Parkerville Road, Cordaville Road, and Woodland Road in Southborough as part of the Acceler8 Bridge Replacement Project. The replacement of the eight bridges will take place over eight weekends in Summer 2021.
