Westborough Man Finds Mortar Round Buried In Yard

WESTBOROUGH, MA — A Westborough man found a mortar round in his yard on Sunday while doing yard work.

The discovery was made on Hyde Street. Mortars are artillery weapons that fire explosive rounds through a barrel, usually at close range.

The Massachusetts State Police Bomb Unit removed the round from the yard and detonated it at another location.
