Westborough PD Speak On 'Unfathomable Murder Of George Floyd'
The department issued a statement condemning the officers involved in the incident that left George Floyd dead in police custody.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — The Westborough Police Department is joining several other police departments in speaking out against the actions of the Minneapolis police officers involved in the death of George Floyd. Video of the officers arresting Floyd has gone viral and shows one officer kneeling on Floyd's neck as he asks him to stop, saying he can't breathe. Floyd died in police custody.
Westborough police issued a statement on Friday on its Facebook page about "the unfathomable murder of George Floyd." The department said it does not support or tolerate officers who "perpetuate acts of evil" based on race, religion, color, creed, or sexual orientation.
"The actions of these Officers are infuriating and has placed a negative mark on our profession which has undoubtedly eroded the trust of not only the Minnesota Police Department, but of all Police Officers across the country," the statement reads in part.

On Thursday, several departments across the state spoke out against the Minneapolis officers including Boston Police Commissioner William Gross who called Floyd's death "a damned shame."
