Westborough Sergeant Honored Following Domestic Violence Incident
Last year, the sergeant was called to an apartment where he shot and killed a man who had stabbed his wife several times.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — A Westborough Police Sergeant was honored on Tuesday by the Worcester County District Attorney's Office for his role in a domestic violence call last November that ended with the victim being safe but the suspect dead.
Sgt. Jon Kalagher was called to a Windsor Ridge Drive apartment in November 2019 for a domestic violence incident. A man in the apartment had repeatedly stabbed his wife, but the woman was able to run to a neighbor's apartment to call police. The man followed her to that apartment, according to the DA's office, and then outside as he continued to attack her.
Kalagher got to the scene as the man was attacking his wife and told him to drop the knife several times. When the man refused, Kalagher shot him, according to the DA's office. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital. The suspect was never identified.
