What made you decide to open this type of business? Working as a realtor, I am able to combine my two passions--helping others while pursuing my entrepreneurial interest. Prior to being a realtor, I worked as a psychologist for almost 20 years. That profession provided the opportunity to sharpen my skills of listening and empathizing with my patients while helping them to gain greater insight into their thoughts and emotions and how those impact their behavior. Transitioning into real estate, it is just as important to recognize the emotions behind every real estate transaction and being able to manage them in order to make the best decision in a given deal.

Why Westborough? Three years ago my husband and I decided to move out of Dracut to lessen our commute time. We chose Westborough primarily because of the great educational system this town is known for. We both attended public schools growing up, and believe that our kids will thrive in this town where there is a good mix of diversity and a real sense of community. As an integral part of the community, I have the local knowledge and expertise to help my clients, whether they are looking to settle in this town, or they are looking to sell and relocate elsewhere.

What do you like best about it? I appreciate most the flexibility of my schedule. I also enjoy the opportunity to interact with so many people and being of service. The real estate industry is one that is very dynamic and vibrant, but it can also be volatile and unpredictable at times. These dynamics make it very interesting for me.

Biggest struggle? As with any businesses, having a flow of steady clientele is crucial. Starting up a new business takes time, dedication, perseverance, and support. I feel blessed that I am at a stage in life where I am able to make a career transition and to live with no regrets.

What do you see for the future? I am excited for the future. I see myself being even more established in the community. There is no greater joy than knowing that I've earned the trust of my clients so I can become their realtor for life, or that they would happily refer me to their family and friends.

Politics and small business: how does government affect your business? The most immediate and personal impact the government has on my business is taxation. In the real estate business, of course almost all aspects of the government affect my business. To name a few, prospecting, advertising, listing, the appraisal process, loans, insurance, mortgage rates, are all impacted by the government.
