Westborough Student Awarded National Merit Scholarship

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation awarded $2,500 scholarships to students from around Massachusetts on May 13.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — The National Merit Scholarship Corporation this week announced a new round of scholarship winners which included one student from Westborough. The scholarships are worth $2,500.

Applicants to the National Merit Scholarship are judged on a combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies. The number of winners named in each state is proportional to the state's percentage of the nation's graduating high school seniors.
More than 1.5 million students apply annually for the highly competitive scholarship.

The winners of the one-time scholarships were chosen by a panel including high school counselors and college admissions specialist. The winners come from a pool of 15,000 semifinalists that were chosen earlier this year.
