Wrong Way Driver Causes Crash on Route 9

Westborough woman accused of causing two-car crash that sent three to the hospital.

 

A Westborough woman is accused of causing a two-car head-on collision in Shrewsbury on Thursday. are investigating the crash. It took place on Route 9 on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 10:51 p.m.

Minutes before the crash, police received multiple 911 calls reporting a wrong-way driver in the area of Route 9 west near the 600 block.

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that Sharon Henderson, 58, of Westborough was operating a Buick sedan in the wrong direction, traveling on Route 9 east, east of Route 140, in the westbound lane.

As she crested a hill, she struck a Honda sedan head-on. The driver of the Honda, Leonardo Dasilveira, 19, of Framingham suffered serious non-life threatening injuries. His passenger and the driver of the Buick suffered minor injuries.

All three were transported by UMass EMS Paramedics to UMass Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester.

Route 9 west was shut down in the area for about one hour while police investigated at the scene and removed the vehicles from the roadway.

The accident remains under investigation by Shrewsbury Police Officer Sean Maynard and Officer Richard Fiske of the Shrewsbury Police Traffic/Crash Reconstruction Unit.
