45% Of Wilmington Has Received At Least 1 Vaccination Shot

WILMINGTON, MA — Nearly half of the town's residents have received at least one coronavirus vaccination shot, a major milestone in the local fight against the virus.

Twenty-six percent of Wilmington residents have been fully vaccinated and 45 percent have been at least partially vaccinated as of Thursday's numbers from the Department of Public Health. That means 10,917 residents have received either one Moderna or Pfizer dose or the single-shot Johnson & Johnson dose (the latter of which is currently under a pause.)

Over sixty percent of those over the age of 64 been fully vaccinated.

The state data also breaks down vaccinations by race. In Wilmington, Black residents lead the way with 36 percent fully vaccinated, versus 32 percent of multi-racial residents, 25 percent of white residents, 18 percent of Asian residents and just 15 percent of Hispanic residents.

Well over half of Black and multi-racial residents have received at least one shot.
