Braintree Man Charged In Maine In Wilmington Man's Death

Elliott Fama, 44, of Wilmington died in November after he was hit in the head by a construction co-worker, authorities said.

WILMINGTON, MA — A coworker has been charged with manslaughter in the November death of a Wilmington man, the Portland Press Herald reported.

Elliott Fama, 44 died Nov. 4 a week after he was hit in the head by Robert Clarke, 35, of Braintree.

The two were in Maine as part of a Massachusetts-based construction crew and longtime friends, the Press Herald reported.

According to the Press Herald, Fama and Clarke exchanged blows following an argument over a cigarette. Fama fell unconscious immediately after being punched in the head and died after days in intensive care.

"Clarke was initially charged with assault," the Press Herald reported. "But weeks after Fama’s death, Clarke was indicted on a manslaughter charge, which came to light last week when it was listed in a report of 2020 homicides in Maine.

According to his obituary, Fama left behind his parents, wife and two stepchildren. A Wilmington native, Fama graduated from Shawsheen Valley Technical high School in 1995 and was a member of the Piledrivers Union Local 56.
