Candidates Gather At Town Democratic Committee Scholarship Breakfast

Event attracts local candidates and state officials.

It's said that the only thing that attracts a politician more than a chance to grab a microphone is a chance to grab a microphone AND enjoy a delicious meal.

Such was the case Saturday, as local candidates and state officials gathered at Rocco's for the annual Wilmington Democratic Town Committee Scholarship Breakfast.

All three candidates for the Board of Selectmen -- incumbents Lou Cimaglia and Michael Newhouse and challenger Kevin MacDonald, attended and spoke at the event. Three of the candidates for School Committee -- incumbents Peg Kane and Kathleen Carroll and challenger Julie Broussard, also attended and spoke.

But the event was not limited to municipal candidates. Congressman John Tierney attended the event, as did State Treasurer Steve Grossman (who is close to announcing a run for governor) and state Rep. Jim Miceli. Also attending and speaking at the event were John Walsh, chairman of the State Democratic Party and Governor's Council member Eileen Duff.

Senior Editor Bill Gilman was at the event and captured these images.
