EPA To Update Wilmington Residents On Olin Site June 23
Officials are holding a virtual public meeting to provide updates and answer questions on the March 2021 cleanup plan.
WILMINGTON, MA — The Environmental Protection Agency will update residents June 23 on the Olin Chemical Superfund Site cleanup.
The agency approved a $48 million cleanup plan for the site on March 23. At the June 23 virtual meeting, the agency will update residents on next steps.
An official from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health will be available after the presentation to answer questions about the Wilmington Childhood Cancer Study.

The meeting will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The meeting will cover ongoing and upcoming remediation work, including upgrades to the temporary cap on the containment area and groundwater investigations.

The March plan addresses groundwater contamination, surface water, soils and sentiments, but the groundwater part is only an interim measure.
The agency is still overseeing longer-term groundwater studies to develop a final cleanup plan for the site, a 53-acre rubber and plastics facility at 51 Eames Street that closed in 1986.
