First Look at Jennifer Lawrence Film Shot in Wilmington

Last winter and spring, Wilmington residents were starstruck as Jennifer Lawrence and other big name actors were in town filming her upcoming movie “Joy.”

Today we get a sneak peek of the film which was shot on location in Wilmington, North Reading and other north shore towns.

Entertainment Weekly released some images from the movie’s trailer which can now be seen ahead of the movie “Trainwreck,” currently being shown in theaters.

Directed by David O. Russell, the film starring Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro is set to open in theaters on Christmas Day. Other actors in the film include some other famous names including: Virginia Madsen, Diane Ladd, Edgar Ramirez, and Isabella Rossellini.

“Joy” is a rags-to-riches tale about Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano, a Long Island single mother of three children, who became a millionaire practically overnight after launching the product on QVC in 1991. Lawrence portrays Mangano who is a fixture on the Home Shopping Network with her many inventions, though the mop was her ticket to fame and fortune. She began her inventing as a teen and kept on dreaming and tinkering while still a single mom raising three kids.
