MBTA Suspending Weekend Service On Lowell Line For Repairs

The MBTA will offer free, bus shuttle service between stations on the line.

WILMINGTON, MA -- The MBTA will suspend weekend service on the Lowell Line in July and August to make track repairs, according to an announcement by the Town of Wilmington. The MBTA will offer free bus shuttles will run between Lowell and Wellington Station on the Orange Line, making stops at every Commuter Rail station.

The MBTA expect service to be suspended on the following weekend: July 7-8, July 14-15, July 21-22, August 4-5, August 11-12, August 18-19, and August 25-26. The MBTA is installing equipment needed for Positive Train Control.

The Lowell line serves Wilmington, as well as Lowell, North Billerica, Anderson/Woburn, Winchester Center, Wedgemere, West Medford and North Station. For more information on the suspended weekend service, see the MBTA announcement.
