Merrimack Valley Power Outages At 165,000

You may be waiting until Sunday to get power back.

TEWKSBURY, MA — National Grid is reporting 165,000 outages across the Merrimack Valley Thursday evening, and getting up and running again will be a "multi-day process." All customers should have power back by Sunday.

The majority of the state's more than 300,000 outages could be find in the region, which the power company said in a 5 p.m. was the hardest hit in Massachusetts.

"The company continues to perform damage assessment. Priority restoration areas are hospitals and public safety concerns such as clearing streets closed by wires and downed trees."

Severe outages plagued the Northeast for days following last Friday's storm. A storm last October knocked out power for the Merrimack Valley for days, even postponing Halloween in some communities.
