Moment of Silence: State Remembering Marathon Victims, Survivors
A statewide moment of silence will be held at 2:49 p.m. on Friday.

Cities and towns across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will be joining the city of Boston for a moment of silence on the third anniversary of the Boston Marathon. The moment of silence will be observed statewide on Friday, April 15 at 2:49 p.m.
The moment of silence, held every April 15 since the bombings, is "to honor those affected by the tragic events of 2013 and to continue to keep coming together as one," Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said Friday morning.
Walsh, along with Governor Charlie Baker, joined families of victims and bombing survivors Friday morning for a wreath laying ceremony at the Marathon finish line on Boylston Street.

The 2013 Patriots' Day bombing was an attempt to terrorize the city of Boston, the Commonwealth and the nation. Lu Lingzi, Martin Richard and Krystle Campbell were all killed in the horrific attack. More than 170 others were injured. MIT Officer Sean Collier was killed four days after the Boston Marathon bombings. His death led to the manhunt for the two suspects. One was killed, the second captured in a boat behind a Watertown home less than 24 hours later
The attackers failed in their mission, as communities across the state pulled together to care for and strengthen each other on that day and the days, weeks and months following.
