OBITUARY: John F. MacDonald, 57, Former Longtime Wilmington Resident

"John will forever be remembered as the most caring, trustworthy and kind hearted soul."

WILMINGTON, MA — John F. MacDonald, age 57, of Salem, NH, formerly a long time Wilmington resident, passed away peacefully on Oct.10 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on Feb. 5, 1959, John was the beloved son of Rose Mary (D’Urbano) MacDonald of Salem, NH, formerly of Wilmington and the late Colin MacDonald. John was raised in Wilmington and graduated in 1979 from Wilmington High School.

John was a hard worker, he started J – Mac’s Landscaping back in the 80’s. He was a valued employee at Woburn Housing Authority for over 20 years. In addition to landscaping, he enjoyed camping, working on cars and being a great friend. John will forever be remembered as the most caring, trustworthy and kind hearted soul.

The most important thing to John was his family. He adored his wife and burst with pride when he spoke of his two children. The unwavering love and support from his family over the past several years through his illness has truly been remarkable. John will be sorely missed by all.

John was the beloved husband of Lori (Hobbs) MacDonald, of Salem, NH formerly of Wilmington. He was the loving father of USMC Cpl. Tyler MacDonald and Courtney MacDonald, both of Salem, NH, formerly of Wilmington. He was the dear brother of Lisa Trabucco and her husband Albert of Salem, NH. John was the son-in-law of John and Florence Hobbs of Wilmington. Brother-in-law of John Hobbs and his wife Margaret of Billerica, Denise Rosenthal and her husband Dave of Lubbock, TX and Keith Hobbs and his wife Kristin of Tewksbury. John was the uncle of Alyssa and Paul Trabucco, Rachel and Jacob Hobbs and Peyton Hobbs. He is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers.

Family and friends will gather for visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rt. 62), Wilmington on Thursday, Oct. 13, from 5-8 p.m. A funeral home service will be held on Friday, Oct. 14, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Memorial donations in John’s name can be made to the Foundation for Mitochondrial Medicine at mitochondrialdiseases.org or to the American Kidney Foundation at www.kidneyfund.org.
