WILMINGTON, MA — Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer in Wilmington, and this year, many residents will mark the new season with a three-day weekend filled with memorial services, outdoor events and backyard barbecues.

At this point, your weekend is likely planned to a T. But, as most of us know, Mother Nature could always step in and ruin that carefully outlined itinerary with a trifecta of rain, storms and cloudy skies.

Unfortunately, it looks as if that might be the case for Memorial Day weekend in Wilmington, according to the most recent forecast for our area.

As you head home from work Friday evening, expect rain; there's an 89 percent chance of rain Friday.

Rain is likely to continue the next morning, with a 99 percent chance of rain Saturday and a high of just 58 degrees.

Sunday and Monday see the chance of rain falling to 52 and 47 percent, but the temperature forecast only rises to 63 by Monday. Dark Sky predicts that it will be "mostly cloudy throughout the day" for Memorial Day Monday.
