Two alarms were struck for the fire with mutual aid requested due to the high potential for loss of life when a fire occurs at a nursing home, according to McLellan.

Upon arriving at the scene, Wilmington fire officials discovered the smoke was coming from a washing machine, not the boiler room, and mutual aid was cancelled, according to McClellan.
