Verizon Hikes Cable Rates In Wilmington

The cost of a basic cable package will nearly double, from $12.99 to $25 per month.

WILMINGTON, MA -- Verizon notified town officials about plans to increase rates for its FIOS cable television service in Wilmington. The new rates will take effect on Sept. 1, but some customers won't see an increase in their cable bill until current discounts expire.

The rate hikes include an increase to $25 per month for the basic FIOS television package from its current rate of $12.99, a 20% increase to $12 for monthly router rental fees and changes to the rates for set top boxes that will be based on the number of boxes a subscriber rents.
