WILMINGTON - Wayne K. Wallace, age 60, of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Fort Devens, MA and Manchester, NH, died peacefully on April 10, 2016, following a bout of pneumonia.

Wayne was born in Boston, MA on September 2; he was the dear son of the late Joseph and Mary A. (McKenzie) Wallace. Wayne was raised in Somerville, MA, where he attended St. Benedict’s Little Flower School and went on to continue his education at the Somerville Trade High School.

Wayne served in the United States Army and was a member of Post 388 in Somerville. In his early thirties, Wayne moved to Fort Devens, MA where he met Anne McCloud Wallace, his long-time companion.

Wayne loved to play softball with his family and friends; for many years they played at Glen Park and on the Post 388 softball team.

Wayne and Anne moved to Manchester, NH, where Wayne started working in the construction field rehabbing and flipping houses. Wayne enjoyed what he did and became quite good at installing new heating and ventilations systems in various properties. Wayne and Anne had many great times together through the years before she became ill with cancer and passed away.

While in Manchester, Wayne also tried his hand in investing in the bar and restaurant business; this is where he met Bernice “Bunny” Douglas. Wayne and Bunny became very close and the couple moved to Port Charlotte, Florida several years ago.

Wayne leaves behind two children, his dearest daughter Stacey Wallace of Manchester N.H. and his son Kenny. He is grandfather to Joseph, James, and Nicole. He also leaves his beloved Companion Bernice “Bunny” Douglas of Port Charlotte, FL, he was the dear brother of Cheryl Diabo, Caroline Weilcher, and John Wallace all of Manchester, NH, and William Wallace & wife Teresa of Wilmington. Wayne is also survived by many nieces and nephews and was pre-deceased by a long-time friend Anne McCloud Wallace.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Saturday, May 21 for Visitation from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. immediately followed by a Service at 12:30 p.m.
