Wilmington-Billerica’s Relay For Life Is Offering a Free Dinner for Cancer Survivors and Caregivers on May 22

Survivor Social Dinner will feature comedian Jerry Caruso, who co-founded "Comics for a Cure."

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington-Billerica’s Relay For Life is sponsoring a free dinner social event for cancer survivors and caregivers on Monday, May 22, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Villanova Hall at 125 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington.

Food will be provided by Lowell General and Edible Arrangements.

Comedian Jerry Caruso will provide entertainment.
Since 1993, Caruso has performed at many comedy clubs in Boston as well as throughout New England and New York.

In 1994, he co-founded “Comics for a Cure” and he has a long history of supporting non-profit organizations with his shows.

This Survivor Social Dinner is a recurring event for Wilmington’s Relay. It doesn’t matter if people are still in treatment or are years past that special five-year survival mark, they are all welcomed.
Donna Laquidara of Wilmington is a 14-year cancer survivor who has attended the social event in the past.

Speaking of her experience, she says, “It is one thing to be told there is a “number” of survivors, but to see a large group of survivors in one spot, I believe, is a more powerful statement.”

“I think the more that participate, the more hope there is for others facing the battle,” Laquidara explains. “It allows you to realize there are others that have walked in your shoes; you were not the only one to hear you have cancer.”

While enjoying good food and entertainment, attendees can also learn more about Relay for Life and the free services available from the American Cancer Society to support patients and their families.
