Wilmington Police Arrest Man, Charge With Attempted Murder

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington Police arrested a Billerica man Monday and charged with with attempted murder, Chief Joseph Desmond said. Ryan Thomas, 33, of Billerica was arrested in connection with a serious assault that occurred Saturday, Desmond said.

Thomas is being charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with dangerous weapon, and assault and battery.

The charges relate to an incident in the Market Basket parking lot Monday. Wilmington police were assisted by the Billerica Police Department.

According to Desmond's release, Wilmington officers were sent to the Market Basket around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, for a report of a fight. The store was closed. Shortly after, police officers and firefighters were dispatched to a home where a 42-year-old man had been stabbed multiple times.

The man said he was stabbed in front of Market Basket, before calling 911. He was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.
