Wilmington Police Stop Motorcyclist Going Over Double Speed Limit

A Woburn man was stopped in Wilmington Friday going over 100 mph on Main Street.

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington police stopped a Woburn man motorcycling over double the Main Street speed limit, Friday, the department said Monday.

The motorcyclist was captured on radar going 105 mph, 65 above the 40 mph limit.

The Woburn man was charged with operating to endanger, speeding and failure to inspect a motorcycle and will be arraigned in Woburn District Court, the department said.

The department noted that nearly 5,000 motorcyclists were killed in crashes in 2018 and encouraged riders to wear helmets, make themselves visible and to ride sober.
