Wilmington Schools to Host Special Olympics
First annual event April 27 at WHS football field & athletic complex.

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Public Schools will hold its First Annual Special Olympics from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 27, according to Wilmington Apple.
The event will be held on Wilmington High School’s football field and athletic complex.
Wilmington students have been participants for years in the Special Olympics held in Lawrence for the past several years, but by holding its own event students from all grades can participate, according to the Wilmington Apple.

Approximately 100 students are expected to compete — 50 students with intellectual disabilities and 50 peer students who will assist their partner, Wilmington Apple states.
The event is possible due to generous sponsors, including TJ Maxx, Pepsi, Lucci’s, We’re One Wilmington, and several generous local families, the Wilmington Apple reports.
