Wilmington Schools Hybrid Model Delayed To Oct. 21

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington's transition to hybrid learning will begin Oct. 21, according to the latest plan Superintendent Glenn Brand presented to the School Committee, Wednesday.

Some in-person kindergarten learning would begin Wednesday, followed by full hybrid learning at the high school and some hybrid learning for elementary and middle school students, Thursday. The full hybrid model would go into effect Oct. 26.

The district is still dealing with staffing needs, negotiating with the teachers union and seeking supplies. The town has ordered almost 400 air purifiers and expects delivery by late October, according to the presentation.

More information will come soon, Brand said. A virtual community forum is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m., followed by another School Committee meeting Oct. 14.
