Wilmington Water Main Flushing Begins April 18

During eight-week program water is still safe to drink.

WILMINGTON, MA -- The Wilmington Water Department will begin its annual water main flushing and value exercising program from 8 p.m. to midnight Monday through Friday beginning April 18.

The program will take eight weeks to complete. Flushing the water mains removes sediments in the pipes, resulting in improved water causing. As a result of the flushing, the water coming from household faucets may temporarily be discolored. The water should run clear after a few minutes of running the cold water.

The water will remain safe to drink during this program.
