Wilmington's National Night Out Set for Tuesday at Rotary Park

The event will feature a variety of family-friendly activities, including a movie after dark.

Looking for something to do on Tuesday night in Wilmington? The town’s police department has you covered.

The Wilmington Police Department is among the law enforcement agencies in North America taking part in National Night Out, which Wilmington is hosting for the first time.

National Night Out is an effort created to raise awareness of crime prevention. In addition, it is aimed to generate support for anti-crime programs while also strengthening the relationship between residents and their police departments, and sending a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Wilmington’s local version of National Night Out will take place Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Rotary Park. The event features fun and games, police and fire vehicle displays, a K-9 demonstration and a movie that will be shown when nightfall arrives.

In 2013, more than 37.8 million people in 16,242 communities around North America participated in National Night Out, which is expected to grow even more this year.
