26 Years Later, Woburn Teen's Disappearance Still a Mystery

After 26 years, the disappearance of Melanie Melanson still remains a mystery. The Woburn teen went missing on the evening of Oct. 27, 1989, and was never seen again.

Tuesday marks yet another year since Melanson, a Woburn native, went missing following a party with friends in the woods. Investigators thoroughly searched the area over and over again, but found nothing.

In a renewed effort to solve the case, billboards have been placed in Woburn and Stoneham, displaying information regarding Melanson’s disappearance.

Based on the lack of evidence in the case, investigators have previously stated that they believe Melanson was killed.

As recently as August, forensic investigators looking into the teenager’s disappearance kicked off a new search at a piece of property in Woburn.
